Islam Makhachev is not opposed to fighting Conor McGregor.
Makhachev is coming off a comfortable first-round TKO win over Bobby Green in their short-notice catchweight bout at UFC Vegas 49 last night.
The victory made it 10 wins in a row for Makhachev who has since called for the next lightweight title shot, and at this point, it’s hard to deny him.
While Justin Gaethje is likely next for current champion Charles Oliveira, there’s always a possibility of McGregor returning in the summer and getting the next title shot.
When asked post-fight if he had any concern of McGregor leapfrogging him or if he’d even like to fight him next, Makhachev responded with the following:
“Honestly, I don’t remember when this guy beat someone,” Makhachev said in his post-fight press conference. “He have to come back, beat someone, then let’s go.”
Islam Makhachev: Bobby Green Is Harder Than Conor McGregor
Makhachev didn’t stop there.
Should McGregor win a fight and they end up facing each other, Makhachev believes he would easily smash the Irishman. In fact, he believes Green would be a harder outing for him than McGregor.
“Why not?” Makhachev added. “I’m going to smash him like easy. Bobby Green (was) going to be hard for me. More than Conor.”
