- Leon Edwards said he will defend his title once again at UFC 300
- The UFC has already slated Belal Muhammad to fight for the welterweight title
Reigning UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards has revealed that he is set to defend his title at UFC 300.
The stage is set for Rocky
During a brief talk in front of Aston Villa fans during halftime of the soccer club’s recent match against Burnley, “Rocky” announced that his next title defense will take place at the much-awaited UFC 300 in April.
Edwards also hyped the crowd by revealing that he is already in discussion with the UFC for a title fight in his hometown in Birmingham.
“To go out there and defend my belt for the second time and bring it back home,” Edwards said. “I will defend my belt in April at UFC 300 in Vegas again. Then hopefully, in the summertime, get a fight back home in Birmingham at Villa Park. I’m in talks with the UFC, so hopefully we can get it done.”

It’s Belal’s turn
Edwards did not name his opponent in the interview. However, MMA journalist Ariel Helwani reported that the UFC high-ups have already picked Belal Muhammad to be the next welterweight title challenger at this point. However, Shavkat Rakmonov is still a possibility.
“As he mentioned yesterday, the plan is for Leon Edwards to defend his title at UFC 300,” Helwani wrote on X. “As of now, the opponent slated to face him would be Belal Muhammad. Shavkat Rakhmonov definitely was in the mix, too.”

Before Edwards’ announcement and Helwani’s report, Muhammad has already been declaring himself as the next title challenger. On the other hand, “Rocky” doesn’t care who he faces next as he remains focused on his goal to make history as the most successful welterweight champion of all time.
