UFC flyweight Lauren Murphy weighs in on the ongoing controversy surrounding the UFC betting scandal which involves former fighter, James Krause.

Lauren Murphy is one of the top flyweights in the UFC. She came over to the UFC back in 2014 and later, following a stint on The Ultimate Fighter season 26, made the move to the flyweight division.  Since TUF, Murphy has fought some of the toughest in her division and has worked her way up to a title fight. Unfortunately, there were health issues leading up to the title fight and she lost to champion Valentina Shevchenko. Now Murphy is trying to get that one back and a win in her next bout against former champion Jessica Andrade could make a great case for a rematch.

Lauren Murphy sat down for an exclusive chat with MiddeEasy about her next fight and about the biggest news story in MMA right now, the ongoing betting scandal.

Lauren Murphy weighs in on the UFC betting scandal involving James Krause

Recently news came out that former UFC fighter turned coach James Krause has been suspended from any UFC activities including coaching active fighters. The reason stems from a Nov. 5 fight involving one of his fighters that is under investigation for possible betting inconstancies. In light of this several Canadian provinces have temporarily banned MMA betting and the UFC has placed a ban on fighters betting on fights. Murphy was asked about her thoughts on this.

“I do think it’s fair because we do have a lot of insider information. I’m not a big better I don’t gamble very much,” she said. “And then look what happened, some f–khead went and ruined it for everybody by using that inside information, and it got out it was made public and I’ve heard a sh-tload of rumors about all of that, like, anyway, I’ve just heard a lot of rumors about it. And, man, it sucks that it happened, but I do think is fair.”

Murphy will be heading into enemy territory in her next bout against Andrade. That bout will be featured on the main card portion of the UFC 283 event which takes place in Rio de Janeiro Brazil on January 21. The event is set to be headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between Glover Teixeira and Jamahal Hill.
