Kron Gracie Happy for Nate Diaz’s Star Power
While Kron Gracie may be new to the UFC, his family’s legacy and his fighting ability have earned him massive respect. Part of that is his public friendship with UFC megastar Nate Diaz. And, as a good friend should, Kron is absolutely ecstatic that his friend and teammate is finally getting the superstar push that he deserves.
Kron spoke to the media ahead of his bout against Cub Swanson at UFC Tampa. Popular in his own right, Kron’s family roots are deeply embedded in MMA. As the son of Rickson Gracie, Kron was destined for stardom. However, it seems like hanging around Diaz and the Skrap Pack has raised his cult following to an entirely higher level. Kron spoke about his friendship with Diaz, the BMF title, and training with the Skrap Pack.
“I think it’s beautiful,” said Gracie in reference to Diaz’s stardom. “Nate’s finally getting what he wanted, the recognition that he deserves, and he basically took that. He didn’t ask nobody for no favors, and no one was giving him no time of day at a certain point,” said Kron.”
He basically took that into his own hands, the power of his mind and his training and his fights and everything, and he was like, ‘You know what, I’m going to just go take what’s mine.’ He did. That’s all thanks to him and his spirit.”
Not only does Kron believe in Diaz’s superstardom, but he also believes in his promotional ability. While many have been critical of the creation of the BMF title, Kron seems to support the idea. Especially because it further proves in the power of the Diaz brothers.
“He created this (BMF title) belt out of thin air, and now it’s a belt,” Gracie said. “I saw it on ESPN, and it said ‘Masvidal is fighting for the BMF belt.’ On ESPN it was a little thing and I was like, ‘What the f**k? They’re fighting for a belt now?’”
Gracie continued, “This guy (Nate) is amazing. It goes to show. I don’t need to say how impressive that is and how much of a star he is. I knew that from the beginning. knew what he was and how powerful him and his brother are.”
The Skrap Pack
It’s undeniable how tight of a unit the members of the Skrap Pack are. Always cornering each other, the love and respect they have for another is very genuine. As much as Kron admires the Diaz brothers and their abilities, they think the same of him.
Expect them to cheer Kron on as he takes on Cub Swanson in the co-main event this weekend at UFC Tampa.
