- Khamzat Chimaev is planning to take part in UFC 300 once he recovers from his hand surgery
- “Borz” has plotted potential title fights in the middleweight and light heavyweight division
Khamzat Chimaev is one of the big-name UFC stars yearning to earn a spot in the highly-anticipated UFC 300 event which is targeted to take place in April 2024.
Borz wants to smash at UFC 300
In a Q&A session with fans during an Instagram Live, “Borz” did not shy away from expressing his desire to be booked for a fight at UFC 300. According to Chimaev, he is set to have surgery on his injured hand sometime in the coming weeks and as soon as he recovered, he’d be gunning to make a UFC return.
“I’ll do surgery operation in one to two weeks. After that, recovery, come back and smash somebody… UFC 300, let’s go! Tell Dana White make that happen,” Chimaev said in the video.
Potential opponents
Shortly after securing a decision win over Kamaru Usman at UFC 294, Chimaev called for a title fight with current light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. Stating the obvious, “Borz” would have to move up another weight class to make that fight happen.
While a showdown with Pereira seems far-fetched at this point, soaring middleweight contender Brendan Allen has previously stated that he is down to face Chimaev or Robert Whittaker at UFC 300. At the same time, Chiamev has also made it clear in the past that he is aiming for a title fight with reigning middleweight champion Sean Strickland.
As it stands, Chimaev remains unbeaten in his pro MMA career. His recent win over Usman saw him extending his flawless run in the UFC to seven fights in a row.
