Khamzat Chimaev seems to have one-up his relationship with Chechen Dictator Ramzan Kadyrov’s son by taking him to Thailand.

Rising UFC star Khamzat Chimaev has on occasion seemed to be keeping questionable company. The number three ranked UFC welterweight has been seen on multiple occasions rubbing elbows with Chechen Dictator Ramzan Kadyrov and has a close relationship with his son Ali Kadyrov. Now that relationship seems to be progressing as Chimaev recently posted a picture of himself and Ali together training at the well-known Muay Thai gym, Tiger Muay Thai in Thailand.

Chimaev has been playing a role in the young Kadyrov’s pursuit of MMA for a while now. He has taken him to shows and was in his corner for at least one of his MMA fights. Chimaev is from Gvardeyskoye, Chechen, and migrated to Sweden at 18 years old. He has been seen with the Kadyrov family on multiple occasions. He is not the only UFC fighter with ties to this family, Kamaru Usman, Henry Cejudo, Justin Gaethje, and Cody Garbrandt have all been in their presence at one point or another in the last year.

Kadyrov has been sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury Department and has been flagged by the U.S. government for supplying troops to the Russian armed forces to fight against Ukraine in the war. He has been accused of kidnapping, torturing, and killing LGBTQ people in his home country of Chechnya.

Chimaev is currently without a fight in the UFC. He has expressed interest in fighting at either 170 or 185 pounds next and has asked for title shots in both divisions. He is still preparing for a call and doing so at the prestigious Tiger Muay Thai in Thailand seems like a great opportunity for growth throughout his layoff.
