Khamzat Maaev – a ‘clone’  of Khamzat Chimaev – remained undefeated at Brave CF 71.

Maaev entered the fight against Elie Farah as a perfect 3-0 in MMA and has been considered Chimaev’s clone. The two share the same first name and nickname and both hail from Chechnya and look similar to one another. As well, the duo has a similar combat sports background as both grew up as dominant wrestlers but have shown off insane KO power in fights.

Maaev was set for the biggest and most anticipated fight of his career as he was competing at Brave CF 71 on Monday and scored a 41-second knockout. It was his promotional debut for Maaev, and what also adds to it, is the fact Chimaev also competed in Brave CF before signing with the UFC.

In the fight, Khamzat Maaev landed heavy shots as Farah was holding onto his leg looking for a takedown. Yet, on one leg, Maaev landed shot after shot that eventually put Farah out.

Maaev and Chimaev’s careers

With the win, as mentioned, Khamzat Maaev is now 4-0 as a pro. Before the win over Farah, he scored a first-round submission win over Tagir Magomedov in January. The fight in January ended his near two-year-long layoff as he beat Jusbek Altyn Uulu by first-round knockout. In his MMA debut, Maaev scored a first-round knockout over Lechi Mumadov in September of 2020.

Khamzat Chimaev, meanwhile, is 12-0 and coming off a first-round submission win over Kevin Holland last September. Chimaev currently does not have his next fight booked, but has been vocal in wanting to get a fight soon but will likely return in October in Abu Dhabi.

Chimaev is currently 6-0 in the UFC and holds notable wins over Gilbert Burns, Li Jingliang, and Gerald Meerschaert among others. And, perhaps, in the future, he will end up facing the other ‘Borz’ in Maaev in what would be a highly-anticipated fight in the UFC.
