Recently, Kelvin Gastelum shared a photograph of himself getting his tooth stitched back into place. Initially, Gastelum was scheduled to headline the first event of 2023 at UFC Vegas 67 against Nassourdine Imavov. However, the injury forced Gastelum to withdraw from the contest.

Now, the No. 13-ranked middleweight will focus on his recovery from surgery. In the wake of his recovery, Conor McGregor decided to offer his thoughts on the matter, responding to Gastelum’s photograph. McGregor accused Gastelum of having a staph infection, calling him “scruff.”

“Absolute scruff this thing is. That’s full on staph infection all over his f*cking face. A full f*cking hole omg and it’s his second time to attempt to enter competition like this,” McGregor wrote. “Wtf! Clean your mats. Wash yourself. F*cking go to the doctor! Scruff.”

Kelvin Gastelum Fires Back At McGregor

This isn’t the first time McGregor has taken shots at Gastelum. He did the same back when Gastelum admitted to having a staph infection before UFC 234, and said he would’ve fought with it had Robert Whittaker not withdrawn from the bout.

Now, Gastelum has responded to the Irishman’s latest hit, calling him a “leprechaun” and telling him to relax.

While Gastelum might be sidelined for some time, McGregor appears to be gearing up for an Octagon return this year. The Irishman is recovering from an injured leg in his last fight, and has spent the past several months adding significant size to his frame.

The former “Champ Champ” has made it clear that he’s interested in a run at 170 pounds, potentially chasing after a third division title – a feat that has never been accomplished before in UFC history. Of course, he also has unfinished business at lightweight against the likes of Dustin Poirier – and pending call outs from top contenders such as Michael Chandler.
