UFC 294 co-headliner Kamaru Usman is calling out injury rumors.

Usman held an open workout session with Justin Gaethje this week ahead of his October 21 fight against Khamzat Chimaev in Abu Dhabi. When Usman finished a takedown, Gaethje asked the former UFC welterweight champion if he was alright.

Some members of the media speculated that “The Nigerian Nightmare” told his training partner that something popped. Usman quickly denied this, slamming those who reached that conclusion. Gaethje also denied being told by Usman that something went wrong.

Kamaru Usman Goes Off On Injury Rumors

Kamaru Usman has made it clear that he is not happy with whoever started the rumor that he had hurt himself. He has taken to his YouTube channel to double down on his initial reaction to the narrative.

“It just goes to show how crazy people just jump on news and media and, ‘Oh, that must be true. That person said that, that person said that,'” Usman said. “Whoever started it, whoever said they heard or saw, like, how could you have possibly heard what I said when it’s me and Justin on a stage in front of thousands of people in a mall? Were you next to us to where you heard what I was saying? Stupid, just dumb, and if my knee was hurt why would I get up and consist of hitting mitts? Oh my God. People believe anything you put on the internet, anything, any f*cking thing. Whoever that was, stop it. Stop with the clickbait. Did not say that. Clearly, I’m fine, dummies.”

Usman took the fight with Chimaev on short notice. The former UFC welterweight champion got the call after Paulo Costa was forced to pull out of a planned grudge match with “Borz.”
