We’re not sure if anyone gave Shogun Rua the memo that the moment the bell goes off this weekend at UFC on FOX Sports 1, Chael Sonnen will attempt to put him on his back and keep him there until he gives up or the ref jumps in. Whether he can actually achieve this is up for question, but everyone (including your mother) knows this will be Chael Sonnen’s gameplan. Look at that, I got a ‘your mother’ joke in and you didn’t even realize it. Your mother didn’t realize it. Did it again.
If an alien arrived on the planet and saw this video, he/she/it would assume that Shogun Rua fully expects to fight with Chael Sonnen on his feet. Perhaps his takedown defense is just so honed that he feels he can thwart any attempt from Sonnen. However it could be that Shogun Rua didn’t want to reveal what he’s been doing to stop a Chael Sonnen takedown and instructed the videographer to not film that portion of his training. Yep, that’s probably it.
