In a recent UFC event held in Las Vegas, there were some noteworthy changes in the rankings. After much-heated debate and speculation over the performances of Alexander Volkanovski and Islam Makhachev at the previous UFC 284 held in Perth, it appears that their efforts may have been for naught. The reason is, Jon Jones, the former light heavyweight champion, has recently claimed the heavyweight championship by taking down Ciryl Gane, and has now surpassed both Volkanovski and Makhachev to become the current top pound-for-pound fighter in the latest UFC rankings update.

“Bones” has cemented his place in UFC history by becoming only the eighth fighter in the organization’s distinguished annals to hold titles in two separate divisions. His highly-anticipated first title defense is scheduled to take place at the upcoming UFC 290 event in July against Stipe Miocic, and fans across the globe eagerly await the outcome of this monumental matchup.

The former champion in the women’s 125-pound category, Valentina Shevchenko, suffered a shocking upset loss to Alexa Grasso. This loss caused Shevchenko to drop down in the pound-for-pound and flyweight rankings.

Additionally, there were some impressive performances by welterweight Shavkat Rakhmonov and middleweight Dricus Du Plessis. Both of these fighters managed to secure big wins at the UFC 285 event, which helped them climb up to the No. 6 spot in their respective divisions.

Here is a glimpse of the current rankings field according to UFC.com. It is important to keep in mind that the symbols used in the rankings indicate movement (+/-) and ties (T) between fighters. Additionally, the designation *NR means that the fighter was not previously ranked.
