Jon Jones Ready To Follow Daniel Cormier At Heavyweight And Snatch That Title From Him Too

Jon Jones On Daniel Cormier: ‘I Think He’d Be A Tougher Fight At Heavyweight, But I Still Believe I Would Win’

We all know that Daniel Cormier and Jon ‘Bones’ Jones do not like each other. Jones is currently on provisional suspension by USADA after failing a drug test the day before his fight against Daniel Cormier at UFC 214. ‘Bones’ won that showdown via third-round knockout, but after his drug test failure, the decision was later overturned and was stripped of the title as well. USADA still has to go down with an official punishment for the former light heavyweight champ.

Although the future looks bleak for Jones, the dark cloud hovering him seemingly hasn’t dampened his spirits. Over the past few months, former pound-for-pound great is getting restless and has been posting a training video, positive messages all that showed something is cooking, and return seems imminent. Even Jones manager said he’s developing one knockout power and getting better every day.

well, Jones first goal is to get his lightweight title back from Cormier if he returns and moreover not only that belt but ‘Bones’ is willing to follow ‘DC’ at heavyweight too and take that strap from him as well. (Via MMAJunkie)

“I think fighting Daniel Cormier at heavyweight would be a bigger challenge,” Jones said. “He’s more comfortable there. His body type, that’s where he wants to be. He wants to be big. I think he would be a tougher fight at heavyweight, but I still believe I would win. I believe I have his number. I know how to beat him.”

One thing is sure, the chances of a trilogy between Jones and Daniel Cormier are pretty slim as “DC” plans to get retired by March and would have long gone by the time ‘Bones’ get to the cage. Also, Cormier wants to close his MMA career with money fight where he’s expected to defend his heavyweight title early next year against Brock Lesnar once he clears his suspension.

Do you see any chances Jones will fight Cormier for the third time?
