- Jon Jones replied to Francis Ngannou’s sarcastic way of congratulating him for his UFC 285 win over Ciryl Gane
- “Bones” is focused on Stipe Miocic as his next opponent
Before copping the UFC heavyweight title, Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou had a subtle exchange as both fighters refused to give each other their flowers. As expected, Ngannou was among the first to react to Jones’ first-round submission win over Ciryl Gane at UFC 285, and “Bones” quickly shared his honest thoughts on it.
Francis proclaimed himself as the heavyweight king
In his tweet, Ngannou did not shy away from handing Jones a back-handed compliment following the former longtime light heavyweight’s UFC 285 victory. According to “The Predator,” it was an impressive win by Jones but he is still the heavyweight king.
“Good job Jonny Boy. Sincerely, the heavyweight king,” Ngannou wrote.
Good job Jonny Boy 👍
Sincerely,
The heavyweight king— Francis Ngannou (@francis_ngannou) March 5, 2023
Jones declared war
The media was excited to hear what Jones had to say about it and quizzed “Bones” for comments during his post-fight news conference. In his response, the new UFC heavyweight champ did not let Ngannou slide and clapped back with a classic “Bones” trash talk.
“Francis is a big old p*ssy,” Jones remarked. “I love that quote. I love it. All that muscle with a big ass pussy. Excuse me, I’m so sorry [laughs].”

Prior to UFC 285, Jones and Ngannou have been heavily linked to a massive heavyweight title fight. However, Ngannou’s ongoing contract conflict with the UFC led to his abrupt departure from the company. The way Jones saw it, “The Predator” did not want to risk his title and ran away just before he makes his long-awaited UFC return.
As it stands, Ngannou remains a free agent and it has become apparent that his priority is to secure a big-money boxing match with reigning WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. On the other hand, Jones is laser-focused on taking on Stipe Miocic for his first title defense as the new UFC heavyweight king.
