Jon Jones is eager to fight Stipe Miocic next time out.

At UFC 285 last week, Jones became the UFC’s heavyweight champion with a first-round submission win over Ciryl Gane. It was a big win for his legacy as he is a two-division champion but after the win, he called for a bout with Miocic to further cement his legacy.

Should Jones get to face Miocic next, he knows beating him would be big for his legacy and it is a tough matchup for him.

“In my head he’s better than he’s ever been. He’s definitely a lot more Experienced and well-rounded then Gane. This is an extremely important fight for both of our legacies, I must treat it as such,” Jones wrote.

As of right now, the fight has not been made but Jones says it likely will take place on International Fight Week. Should it happen, ‘Bones’ says this is the MMA GOAT vs. the heavyweight GOAT which makes it the most important fight of his career.

Jones says Miocic fight is GOAT vs. GOAT

“There has never been a fight that means more to me than beating Stipe Miocic. I don’t think I’ve ever fought a GOAT and people consider him the greatest heavyweight of all time. None of my past champions that I’ve beat were considered GOATs, so this GOAT vs. GOAT (matchup) means the world to me.”

Jon Jones is currently 27-1 and one No Contest and ended his three-year-long layoff at UFC 285 with the stoppage win over Gane. Prior to that, he edged out decision wins over Dominick Reyes and Thiago Santos to defend his light heavyweight but later vacated the strap so he could focus on moving up to heavyweight. In his career, he also holds notable wins over Alexander Gustafsson, Daniel Cormier, Glover Teixeira, Chael Sonnen, Shogun Rua, and Lyoto Machida among others.

Stipe Miocic (20-4), meanwhile, hasn’t fought since March of 2021 when he lost his heavyweight title by KO to Francis Ngannou. In his UFC career, Miocic holds notable wins over Ngannou, Cormier, Junior dos Santos, Alistair Overeem, and Fabricio Werdum among others.
