  • The 40-year-old thinks Tom Aspinall would be a good heavyweight debut opponent

Jan Blachowicz has quickly moved on following his split decision lost to Alex Pereira at UFC 291. In fact, he is even open to the idea of moving up to the heavyweight division.

Okay with Heavyweight

Speaking to Sportsnaut, Blachowicz was asked if he would ever be interested in reigniting the potential fight with Jon Jones. As expected, the former light heavyweight champ swiftly said yes and confirmed that it’s a legit option he would have to think about in the near future.

“Of course. Why not? It sounds good,” Blachowicz said of moving up to heavyweight. “You opened something in my mind, so yea, we’re going to ask UFC about the opportunity of heavyweight. It’s something I have to think about.”

Tom Aspinall sounds good too

With no title to his name, Blachowicz is well aware that a showdown with “Bones” would not be handed to him right away. He knew that he needs to beat a top heavyweight contender first and he thinks that a fight with current No. 4 heavyweight Tom Aspinall would make sense.

“I need to watch them carefully, because when I watch the heavyweights I just watch for the fight,” he admitted.“I don’t watch to analyze them. But Aspinall did a great job in his last fight. That would be something very good for me for the first fight stop in heavyweight.”

Blachowicz is now 40 years old but he is not planning of slowing down at this point. He believes he got robbed in his last fight against Pereira but swears to bounce back stronger. As it stands, Blachowicz is sitting at the No. 4 spot in the official light heavyweight rankings.
