Watch: Did James Gallagher punk a referee for touching his mom in the cage?

James Gallagher and his mom

Can’t lie it took more than a few viewings of this video before James Gallagher and his mom were confirmed. Did anyone else think that was simply just James Gallagher and his cougar girlfriend? Just us and that very handsy referee?

Okay.

Noted.

Our bad.

For everyone else in the world, Bellator’s brightest prospect Gallagher picked up a huge win at Bellator 217 AKA Bellator Dublin. Gallagher flat out got embarrassed in his last fight, suffered his first career loss, and he needed this win badly.

Gallagher is a human lighting rod and to be honest Bellator needs a lot more of those on their roster. Scott Coker has Gallagher, MVP, Aaron Pico, and a whole lot of fighters who have star potential but the UFC passed on for whatever reason.

Sure Gallagher often comes across as Conor McGregor light but is that really a bad thing? He’s Irish, cocky, and even trains at SBG Ireland.

Also he’s a huge fan of wearing sunglasses indoors, which used to be a curse from the Fight Gods, but is oddly now pretty commonplace in MMA.

After Gallagher beat up and subbed Steven Graham, who was brought to Ireland just to lose, the 22-year-old moved to 8-1 in his MMA career. Then he looked to celebrate. Like any good Irishman in his early 20s, of course Gallagher looked to find his mom after choking out a dude.

Gallagher and his mom had a loving embrace, everyone or just us confirmed it was in fact his mom, and the MMA world had a touching moment.

Then for reasons nobody can truly understand, some referee started grabbing at Gallagher’s mom. Like right in the middle of the hug. Just not reading the room at all and making it awkward for everyone guy.

Of course Gallagher was having none of it and started verbally trashing the referee who way was too into moms. Check it out below.

Happy early Mother’s Mrs. Gallagher.
