Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill praised Francis Ngannou for his performance against Tyson Fury.

Nearly a week has passed, and the MMA community hasn’t stopped talking about Fury vs. Ngannou. Despite losing by split decision, ‘The Predator’ proved a lot of people wrong by going toe-to-toe with the WBC heavyweight champion and shockingly knocking him down in round three.

Jamahal Hill recently gave Ngannou his flowers during an interview with The Schmo:

“I think he did great. I think Francis came out and shocked a lot of people, myself included. I knew he had punching power, but some of the moves he made, like the head rolls and the slips and the counters he was able to do, his defense, and being able to turn his awkwardness into a weapon was very impressive…He’s got a career as a prize boxer, prizefighter in boxing, right up to the top.”

Francis Ngannou’s near-win against Tyson Fury has generated interest from fans to see him in the boxing ring again. Several top-tier names are already being thrown around for Ngannou’s next heavyweight boxing opponent, including Andy Ruiz, Anthony Joshua, and Deontay Wilder.

Jamahal Hill wants to see a rematch between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou

Before fighting Francis Ngannou, Tyson Fury signed a contract for an undisputed heavyweight world title boxing match against Oleksandr Usyk.

The must-see fight was initially scheduled for December of this year, but Ngannou’s unexpected performance postponed the event to February 2024.

As for Ngannou, it’s unclear what’s next due to his lucrative contract with the PFL for a return to MMA in 2024.

During the previously mentioned interview with The Schmo, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill had this to say about what he wants to see ‘The Predator’ do next:

“I’d like to see him box again. There’s a lot of money in that. I’d like to see him get that back [from Tyson Fury]. So, yeah, I think he should definitely stick to boxing.”

Although Fury is booked with Usyk, Jamahal Hill and fans worldwide want to see Ngannou get a rematch against ‘The Gypsy King.’ Hill had this to say about the rematch and other potential boxing opponents for ‘The Predator’:

“I’d say do the rematch, but I know that’s not gonna because they already Tyson booked for a fight already. AJ’s [Anthony Joshua] is out there. Deontay [Wilder] is out there. Who knows?”

Francis Ngannou’s free agency journey was questioned and ridiculed by most of the combat sports community. Now that the dust has settled, the former UFC heavyweight champion seems to have made the right decision by betting on himself.
