UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping is wondering if heavyweight boxing was exposed following the Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou boxing match.

Ngannou fell just short of pulling off one of the biggest upsets in combat sports history. The former UFC heavyweight champion dropped Fury and pressured him for all 10 rounds. While he lost the bout via split decision, Ngannou has been embraced by MMA and boxing experts and fans.

Now that the dust has settled, many hot takes have surfaced in the aftermath of Fury vs. Ngannou. Some have gone as far as to say that Ngannou’s impressive showing exposed heavyweight boxing.

Did Francis Ngannou Expose Heavyweight Boxing? Michael Bisping Chimes In

During a video uploaded on his YouTube channel, Michael Bisping discussed the take floating around that Ngannou embarrassed heavyweight boxing.

“Did Francis just expose them all? Did Francis just make them all look bad? Did Francis just say, ‘Hey, look at this, they’re not that good?’ This is not the boxing generation from the 90s where we have Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, and the list goes on. Or maybe it is, maybe they are that good and maybe just mixed martial artists are better [laughs]. I’m kind of kidding, but I do have a point.”

Ultimately, Bisping thinks there might be a good point made with that notion considering that Ngannou had zero boxing experience before the Fury bout.

“I don’t know if he did,” Bisping said. “I don’t know what the answer is, right? I’m in two minds, but it certainly looks like it because a novice shouldn’t be able to do that.”
