Israel Adesanya got fans bothered following his sudden decision to step away from fighting for a long time. However, Izzy made it clear that he is not retiring and would just be resting for possibly until 2027.

Izzy isn’t going nowhere

Speaking to The Mac Life, the former UFC middleweight champion addressed the truth about his current status. According to Adesanya, people have been asking him thinking he is done and he wants them to chill for a moment as he is not going anywhere.

“I just had to take my time and chill… This is crazy man, I’m very grateful for this life and I will never ever ever ever take this for granted even though I have in the past, I’ve learned my lesson,” Adesanya explained.

“I was getting so many messages,” he added. “I was getting tagged in so many things and I’m just like, all these messages. I’m just like, ‘Yo, I’m not dead. I’m not retiring.’ Calm down. N*gga, I’m alive. I’m still kicking. So we hear.”

Adesanya then gave an unofficial timeline for his UFC return.

“2027. Look for the return. I’ll see you there,” he concluded.

Izzy is in a slump

Adesanya was prompted to take a break shortly after losing his middleweight strap to Sean Strickland at UFC 293. The defeat may have contributed to his decision to pause from fighting but Izzy insists that he just wants to have a peace of mind.

As it stands, “The Last Stylebender” is still the No. 1 UFC middleweight contender.
