It was almost a very bad training session for Israel Adesanya‘s coach.

Last week during practice, Adesanya was very close to landing a head kick on one of his coaches, Carl Van Roon. Van Roon runs Van Roon Martial Arts gym in Auckland, New Zealand, and has been working with Adesanya ahead of his title defense next month.

The video

Van Roon posted a video of him showing the UFC middleweight champion a roundhouse kick. After showing the kick, Adesanya mimicked it and unfortunately didn’t check the distance between him and his coach as he almost kicked his coach in the head.

“@stylebender almost knocks me out 😅 It’s always fun training with this guy #closeshave #neardeathexperience,” Van Room Roon wrote on Instagram.

Immediately after the “near-death experience,” Adesanya looked like he saw a ghost and then apologized to his coach by saying, “Fu*k! My bad.”

UFC 276

It isn’t too long until Adesanya can try that roundhouse kick for real as he faces Jared Cannonier at UFC 276 as part of Internation Fight Week. Adesanya and Cannonier headline the absolutely stacked card.

Adesanya is coming off his fourth title defense at UFC 271 when he defeated Robert Whittaker in their highly anticipated rematch. Jared Cannonier knocked out Derek Brunson on the same card to earn his title shot.
