- Israel Adesanya accused Sean Strickland of being insecure
- The reigning middleweight champ insists he is not bothered by “Tarzan’s” wild antics
Israel Adesanya will defend his middleweight title once again when he faces Sean Strickland at UFC 293. Ahead of the fight, Izzy shared his honest thoughts on his opponent’s notoriety for trash-talking.
Sean is Insecure
Speaking to The Mac Life, “The Last Stylebender” pointed out that Strickland’s wild antics are not working for him. For Adesanya, “Tarzan” is just covering up his “insecurity.”
“Sean’s very insecure,” Adesanya assessed. “You only have one impression, the first impression if you want to be a tough guy make it the first impression first impression he was a b*tch. I didn’t even mean to make him a b*tch. I was just, ‘Hey, what’s up buddy how you doing?’ He’s like, ‘Oh don’t do me like you did your boy Acosta and then [we] get on stage and then [he’s like] ‘I’ll come there right now! And then you get my number’ I was like, bro five minutes ago, backstage, where’s this energy? So that’s why when he tries to do all that sh*t to me now I’m just like, it doesn’t work.”
“He’s very insecure, covers it up with a lot of stuff but that’s not for me that’s a him problem not a me problem I know who I am and I’ve done the work with myself. I don’t give a f**k,” he added.
Izzy’s coach feels the same way
It can be recalled that Strickland mocked Adesanya’s fashion sense by poking fun at his painted nails. As expected, Izzy hit back and vowed to knock him out with his nails painted.
Adesanya’s longtime coach Eugene Bareman, meanwhile thinks Strickland is one of the best fighters in the UFC at present. However, Bareman is also not bothered by “Tarzan’s” trash talks as he only finds it “funny.”
“In terms of Sean, I don’t know too much about what he says. I’ve seen a few things. I’ll be honest, the few things I’ve heard about Sean, they make me laugh. They’re the same things I give Israel sh*t about already. The painted nails and all the rest of it. He gets it. It’s funny that Sean brings all this up. I already bring it up.
“What the bloke says, it’s… Sometimes he says some gross stuff, but some of it is quite funny the whole Chinese thing is quite funny, I think.”
UFC 293 is happening this weekend and the event will be headlined by the middleweight title bout between Adesanya and Strickland.
