Interview: We call up top SBG prospect Sam Slater

Sam Slater interview

Back in May when I covered BAMMA 35 in Dublin for the red monster, I happened to catch the professional debut of one of team SBG’s most hyped prospects; Sam Slater.

Despite only getting the call to debut on two week’s notice; Slater seemed totally unfazed by the short notice nature of the fight, successfully making weight and proceeding to steamroll over his opponent Jeananderson Castro in just the second round.

After winning his short notice debut, you would have expected Slater to take some time off to recuperate and celebrate. Yet he sparred zero time in getting back to the grind of training.

Slater accepted another short notice fight just a few weeks after winning his debut; this time taking on Poland’s own Piotr Tokarski. Slater proceeded to beat up Piotr in a lopsided unanimous decision victory.

Fast forward a few months and Slater now finds himself nestled into the middle of Bellator’s illustrious lightweight roster. Slater is set to make his Bellator debut on February 24th at Bellator Dublin and he hopes to claim the Bellator crown soon.

We recently connected together over Skype to discuss his upcoming debut. Check it out below:
