First, let me say that I don’t give a fuck whether these were legal or illegal knees. In my opinion, MMA fighters should cheat endlessly and should be prepared to have their opponents cheat at any time. Get poked in the eye, your fault. Get kicked in the d**k, your fault. Get brutally kneed in the head while in a three point stance, of course that shit is your fault. I enjoy the MMA rule sets that allow full soccer kicks on grounded opponents; I’m not shedding a tear because you got kneed in the head.
But okay, if you want to get into the nitty gritty of “rules” and “legality”, I think the best place to start is to watch the finish again.

You want my opinion, the knee missed. And those elbows to the back of the head (the best place to land an elbow btw) were happening because of Emmett’s movement, and they didn’t warrant a stop in the action. Note, the final blow that really finishes Emmett (until the Hendo diving elbow) was totally legal punch to face.
But did some illegal shit go down? Sure, I’ll grant you that. Enough to stop the action? Fuck no.
Now, you see how quick and simple that debate was? Now, let’s watch it done by the folks at the UFC post-fight show on FS1. Try not to gouge your own eyes out.
Did Jeremy Stephens strike Josh Emmett with an illegal knee? @dc_mma @dominickcruz and @bisping intensely debate the details of the main event! #UFCOrlando https://t.co/cQxX5So9bb

Imagine listening to Dominick Cruz on a high school debate team. They would win every time as the judges just became too infuriated to listen anymore. It’s an effective tactic in modern American politics.
Who the fuck thought this was good television? Nearly every second it continues I only want to stop the video more. I’m embarrassed for everyone involved.
Let’s hear Daniel Cormier say “legal shots” one more time. I cannot wait for the end of the Fox era.
