Gustafsson Hinted That Jones Beat Him While On PEDS, Jones Fires Back

Former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson met at UFC 165 which is widely known as one of the most memorable bouts in UFC history.

That epic fight saw Jones absorbs the most punishment of his career, though it didn’t halt him from winning the bout via unanimous decision. That loss didn’t sit well with Gustafsson who aimed at the former UFC light-heavyweight champion many time in recent years.

Gustafsson wants to run it back after Jones earns the gold at UFC 214 against Daniel Cormier, but the victory was later overturned to a no-contest as Jones failed the drug test.

Last week, Gustafsson revealed that beating Jon Jones is higher than claiming the 205lbs title. ‘The Mauler’ has been lobbying for a rematch ever since the first fight, so it was no surprise to hear that he still would like to lock horns with former champ despite his consecutive failed drug tests.

Yesterday Jones backed up Daniel Cormier’s tweet about Gustafsson, who took a jab at Cormier when announcing his new contract. However, it didn’t take long for Gustafsson who clapped back implying that Jones was on PEDs when Jones beat him in their first outing back in 2013:

Jones fires back at Gustaffson’s tweet:

Brilliant come back, just what I expected from you. I guess shogun, rampage, Bader etc. could all use the same excuse now too. Do you look yourself in the mirror and call yourself champ now that “I cheated” Jon wrote

“Please tell me you convinced yourself that I was on steroids during our fight please tell me you convinced yourself I was ever on steroids ” Jon wrote

“The only “good stuff” I used to send you packing was my big old American balls. Try spending a little more time here, maybe you’ll learn a thing or two” Jon wrote

A rematch between them is unlikely at the moment as Jone’s future in MMA is uncertain due to his failed drug test ahead of his UFC 214 match with Cormier. ‘DC’ who moved up to heavyweight to challenge current champion Stipe Miocic for the title at UFC 226 on July 7 in Las Vegas.

Jones is awaiting punishment from the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) for his second doping violation; he could possibly get a four-year suspension if USADA rule that he intentionally took the banned substance found in his positive samples.
