Grant Dawson is not a fan of the PFL’s recent decision.

The PFL booked Natan Schulte and Raush Manfio to fight each other in the second regular season matchup of the year. However, the two are very good friends and teammates and Schulte is the Godfather of Manifo’s daughter, which shows how close they are. With that, the two’s fight was very lackluster as it appeared neither wanted to hurt each other and it was Schulte who won a decision.

‘Makes no Sense’

The decision victory for Schulte got him into the playoffs but the PFL announced they suspended Schulte and Manfio and put Shane Burgos into the playoffs. The news stunned many including Grant Dawson who is teammates with them and believes that decision should mean people start to boycott PFL.

“That’s a boycott PFL situation. Because that makes no sense. They’re two former champions, they’re two former tournament winners, and so for them to fight not even in the tournament, it makes no sense… I don’t know the whole story – I think there’s some politics that went behind it,” Dawson said at UFC Vegas 76 media day. “Shane Burgos, who’s another good friend of mine, I’m happy he got in, but I think that’s why they did that. I think they matched those two up and were hoping that some type of controversy would happen to where they could slip Shane Burgos into the tournament.”

The decision by PFL had many fighters, media, and fans criticize them but they have stood by their decision and both Schulte and Manfio will be suspended and not in the playoffs for their lackluster fight.

As for Grant Dawson, he is set to take on Damir Ismagulov on Saturday in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 76. A win over Ismagulov should lead to Dawson fighting a top-10 opponent next as this is the toughest test of Dawson’s young career.
