Grant Dawson hasn’t heard many good things about rising UFC welterweight Ian Garry.

Garry has come under fire as of late after it was discovered that his wife made a book on how to be a WAG, which is a wife or girlfriend who is in a relationship with an athlete for status and money. While Garry has threatened legal action against UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland over his views on the matter, some have ripped the Irish star and called him a hypocrite for making things personal with Geoff Neal and Neil Magny.

In an exclusive interview with James Lynch for Middle Easy, Grant Dawson didn’t hide how he feels about the way Ian Garry has handled his pre-fight buildups.

Grant Dawson Scolds Ian Garry Over Antics

During the interview, Dawson was asked if he thinks the whole public blowup involving Garry’s wife could impact his performance against Vicente Luque at UFC 296 on December 16. “KGD” answered by making it clear he doesn’t like how Garry has conducted himself.

“Man, I don’t know,” Dawson said. “I’m not a big Ian Garry fan, like, at all. I really don’t like how he handled the Neil Magny situation. I really, really did not like how he handled the Geoff Neal situation, but you gotta make money so I get it. But then somebody dishes it out on you and you start talking about getting the law involved and suing? It’s like, how can you make yourself look like less of a man? Just shut up, dude nobody cares and he’s really kind of shooting himself in the foot.

“I actually think that Luque will beat him and I thought that Luque would beat him before all of this happened. I just think Luque is a higher level guy, I’m not sold on Ian Gary. I think that he definitely has some skill and he definitely has some potential to do a lot of of really good things. I just don’t see him being the next Conor McGregor that everybody thinks he is.”

Moving On From Bobby Green Loss

Dawson had gone 11-0-1 in his last 12 outings before meeting Bobby Green back in October. Green scored a shocking KO win in 33 seconds. Dawson is holding his head up high and doesn’t have any regrets about the fight.

“Man, you know, I got beat and that’s okay,” Dawson said. “I took a chance against an unranked guy and I came up short. The internet can give me as much sh*t as they want about it, I wouldn’t have changed a single thing. Knowing what I know, I would still go out there and try to beat Bobby Green.”
