Lightweights get the spotlight in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In the main event of UFC Vegas 79, sleek striker Rafael Fiziev takes on Poland’s Mateusz Gamrot. Both men look to take a step closer to the title with a win at the UFC APEX.
Round 1:
Gamrot fires a leg kick on Fiziev. Gamrot throws a kick which Fiziev dodges in ‘Matrix’ fashion. Fiziev hits the body and the head of Gamrot. Gamrot times a takedown but Fiziev defends beautifully. Fiziev lands the body kick up the middle. Fiziev lands a leg kick that causes Gamrot to spin out. Gamrot gives his all when going for another takedown but Fiziev defends spectacularly as the round ends.
CDS: 10-9 Fiziev
Round 2:
Gamrot wastes no time in getting the fight to the ground. Gamrot has Fiziev’s back but ‘Ataman’ crawls close to the cage before finally getting back up to his feet. Gamrot presses Fiziev against the fence. Fiziev fires a body kick but his foot connects on the elbow of Gamrot instead. Fiziev falls to the ground because of the injury and Gamrot follows it up with shots before the referee steps in.
