Dustin Poirier Vs. Eddie Alvarez 2 Official For UFC Fight Night Calgary

Former Bellator and UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier are set to once again lock horns as the UFC announced the two will headline UFC Fight Night in Calgary on July 28.

The fight will be a rematch of their exciting UFC 211 brawl, which ultimately ended in a no contest after Alvarez hit Poirier with an illegal knee in the second round.

Fans have been waiting for the chance to get some closure from an always intriguing matchup between two of the lightweight division’s best and most violent fighters.

Both men have picked up knockout victories over former WSOF lightweight champion Justin Gaethje since their first encounter, and a win for either man in this rematch could easily put them into title contention.

Poirier initially wanted more time to prepare for Alvarez, as “The Diamond” just recently defeated Gaethje at UFC on Fox 29 in April and the two went to war.

”The Diamond” was getting the better of Alvarez during the first round of their first fight. In the second round, the former champion hit Poirier with a knee to the head while Poirier was grounded.

Poirier has been calling out Alvarez ever since, and although the former champ seemed reluctant to accept it at first, the two ultimately agreed on the terms of the rematch.

Who will emerge victorious in the rematch between Poirier and Alvarez?
