Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone Taking On Justin Gathje In September
The king of short-notice, Donald Cerrone is back at it again. This time, he will be taking on Justin Gaethje, on around 7-weeks notice.
Donald Cerrone is coming off a loss to Tony Ferguson. He lost the fight via doctor stoppage, in a very exciting bout. However, now it seems that we may be seeing Cerrone again, pretty soon. He put out a cryptic Instagram post, implying that he has taken a short-notice fight.
“Just got off the phone with my ole Buddy. And at 155 it’s kinda are only option. He told me Cowboy let’s go make this money. And if I can Promise y’all something this is a fight y’all Do Not Want to miss. O and of course it’s on short notice 🤠”
It did not take long however, for that opponent he was mysteriously referring to, to be announced. Dana White confirmed that Cerrone will, in fact, be taking on Justin Gathje. The bout will take place on September 14th, in Vancouver, Canada, on ESPN+.
Gathje is fresh off of back to back victories over James Vick and Edson Barboza. Both of these fights were won by vicious first round knockout. Additionally, this was a great way to rebound, after taking the first two losses of his career, prior.
Justin Gathje and Donald Cerrone are arguably the two most exciting fighters in the world. Anybody can feel comfortable in saying that this fight will be absolutely insane. Both guys know how to bring it, and they never take the foot of the gas. Vancouver is getting an true banger of a fight.
