Derrick Lewis Reacts To Cody Garbrandt’s Racist Tweets

Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt’s controversial racist Tweets from 2012-2013 unearthed on Wednesday caused a bit of firestorm on social media as of late. The Garbrandt got underfire by frequent use of the N-word in his old tweets.

‘No Love’ is gearing up to face his longtime rival TJ Dillashaw in the main event of tonight’s (Sat., August 4, 2018) UFC 227 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Some internet detectives who want to distract Garbrandt from his fight.

Garbrandt has since scrubbed all these controversial tweets all from his profile but missed out few. Garbrandt, who’s fighting tonight was questioned about it those tweets during a media event to promote UFC 227 earlier this week.

Cody brushed it off to discuss a series of racially insensitive tweets initially but then gave out a full explanation on it before abruptly ending the interview. (Via MMAJunkie)

“First and foremost, it shouldn’t be embarrassing,” Garbrandt said on Thursday. “I’m going to be a man and address it once, and that’s it.”

“It’s lyrics. I grew up hanging out with blacks, Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, selling drugs. That’s a street word we would always say. It wasn’t like I was using derogatory words toward anyone. That’s how we grew up. It was kind of normal. That’s it. It’s a learning experience for a lot of people to not use that word in this day an age.”

The problem is Cody said that everyone is just trying to be negative here.

“Everyone’s just trying to figure out some negativity. I’m so positive, and I have great things going on this week. Nothing’s deterring me from my focus. That’s that. It’s the last time I’ll address this question. And I’m actually done with this interview with you, as well.”

Public reaction on his tweet is bit tumultuous, but UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis says ‘No Love’ is all good in his books.

Since Lewis is forgiving to Cody Garbrant on his controversial tweets, but social media is a bit hesitant to back off.
