Even though the UFC middleweight says he doesn’t mind gays, it seems like he was bothered by children watching a drag show at a gay nightclub over the weekend.

“I don’t have no problem with gay people. They’re some of the coolest folks. But this is some BS.”

That was Derek Brunson replying to someone on Twitter after he took issue with children at a gay bar last week.

Mr. Misster

According to WFAA.com, the drag show took place in a Dallas bar called ‘Mr. Misster’ and it “held the event ‘Drag the kids to pride’ drag show Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the city’s Oak Lawn neighborhood. The organizers called it a family-friendly spin-off of their Champagne Drag Brunch that would allow kids to dance with performers on stage.”

During the event, drag performers danced and walked down the aisle in the center of the room. At times, the dancers would take dollar bills from some of the children. Kids also walked with the dancers down the aisle during the event.”

A bit much

A clip of the show and pictures made their way onto Twitter, and that is when the No. 4 ranked UFC middleweight spoke out.

“This is bit much. Children at a provocative drag show… Can we protect our children more in today’s society. Children don’t need to be at strip clubs, or any provocative show throwing money. SMFH. read the message on the board in the background,” Brunson wrote.

Of course, Brunson was met with criticism calling him homophobic and hates gay people. Something that happens whenever you have an opinion on something.

The UFC middleweight pointed out that he has no problem with gay people and that they are some of the coolest people. His tweet came from a place where he was thinking from the kid’s point of view.

“”It’ll be the same response from me if pictures of children in a strip club was floating around the internet . FYI I’m not god , I don’t have no problem with gay people . They’re some of the coolest folks . But this is some BS,” Brunson wrote.

“‘It’s not gonna lick itself”’sign , throwing dollars , twerkin in splits right in front of kids . Search the event to see more. And there’s nothing against the LGBTQ community . It’s more about protecting kids, their minds aren’t mature enough for these types of behaviors”

Brunson is coming off a TKO loss to Jared Cannonier at UFC 271 in February.

Molina

Last week, UFC flyweight Jeff Molina also received backlash. But for him, it was because he chose to wear rainbow colors on his fight kit. After he picked up a win at UFC Vegas 56, he reacted to all of the toxicity. Read about that here.
