Despite An Early Left High Kick, Derek Brunson Recovered And Scored A Decision Win Over Ian Heinisch!
The 185-pound fight between an amazing puncher Derek Brunson and the former LFA Middleweight champion Ian “The Hurricane” Heinisch kicks off the main card of UFC 241 PPV (pay-per-view) event, which goes down live tonight (Saturday, August 17, 2019), from inside Honda Center, Anaheim, California.
The referee is Mike Beltran. Ian Heinisch wears black shorts, while Derek Brunson starts this bout in blue/black trunks. Let’s roll!
Round 1
No glove touch, Heinisch delivered a superb left high kick that wobbled Brunson, but Derek somehow clinched up!!!
Brunson presses him against the cage. Big punch. Heinisch goes forward, eats and delivers punches. 1-2 Brunson. Not much action, both fighters are very patient. Heinisch went for a takedown attempt, stuffed. Strong left by Derek.
Brunson lands few strikes, then goes for a takedown, he holds Heinisch’s leg, but eats short strikes and an elbow. Ian survives, few strikes on both sides. Another takedown attempt by Brunson, stuffed, but good left hand. I think 10-9 Heinisch.
Round 2
Heinisch is not too offensive. Both fighters are cautious, Heinisch misses a takedown attempt, Brunson counters with a left hand and sprawls to defend a takedown attempt. Few strong punches by Brunson, Heinisch counters with a takedown, stopped.
Heinisch misses over and over, Brunson landed a big knee, but Heinisch went for a takedown, Brunson comes off his back and rains nasty blows. Brunson went for a high kick but slipped and fell. He got up immediately. Brunson stopped takedown attempt, 10-9 Derek.
Round 3
The first minute looks like a sparring session. Brunson takes his rival down!!! Heinisch got up almost instantly.
Fighters in the clinch, left uppercut Brunson. Heinisch ate some big strikes. Brunson stops takedown attempt.
Great takedown by Brunson again, fighters got back on their feet. Right elbow Heinisch. Brunson counters with a nasty left straight punch! Brunson lands body shots over and over, Heinisch counters with a strong right-hand. I think 10-9 Brunson.
