- Demetrious Johnson said he will fight Henry Cejudo in a friendly trilogy bout
- “Triple C” is also down for it
Former UFC rivals Demetrious Johnson and Henry Cejudo appear to be close pals lately. In fact, the pair even trained together for Johnson’s bantamweight title fight at ONE on Prime Video 1.
The training sessions with “Triple C” seemed to have worked out pretty well for “Mighty Mouse” as he ended up knocking out his opponent Adriano Moraes with a flying knee. And now, Johnson is open to a friendly trilogy fight with Cejudo.
A third fight
Speaking to reporters in his ONE on Prime Video 1 post-fight interview, Johnson said the idea of a rubber match with Cejudo makes sense because they could both make a lot of money out of it. But regardless of the outcome of the fight, “Mighty Mouse” said they will just have a good time after.
“Absolutely,” Johnson said. “I mean, I’m sure if the money was crazy enough, I’m sure me and him would do it. Me and Henry, we’re chill, right? I know we would fight because he’s got to make a lot of money for them diapers for his baby. I know he wants more kids. … It’s about keeping the lights on. So, if me and Henry did fight, we’ll put it aside and make a lot of money together. And after the fight, whoever wins or loses, buy each other a beer.”
“He can hang with me, Henry Cejudo is still good, you know?” he added. “He just jumped back in the USADA pool. He’s still under contract with the UFC. Henry wants that triple crown. Is he ‘Triple C?’ Yeah. He wants that ‘Quadruple C.’ So, he wants Alex Volkanovski, and that’s what he wants.”
The feeling is mutual
Apparently, the idea of a third fight with Johnson is also music to Cejudo’s ears.

“If there was one guy that I would like eventually, like if I would have loved to come back for flyweight, 100 percent it would be Demetrious Johnson,” Cejudo said in a Twitter video.
For those who didn’t know, Johnson and Cejudo have had quite a history in the UFC. First, “Mighty Mouse” finished “Triple C” via first-round TKO at UFC 197. Cejudo evened it out two years later with a split decision win in the rematch at UFC 227.
Indeed, the fact that Johnson and Cejudo used to beat each other up inside the octagon makes their friendship undeniably unique.
