  • Daniel Cormier thinks Michael Chandler didn’t do anything to make Conor McGregor return sooner
  • DC believes “Notorious” is now completely in control of their fight

Daniel Cormier regrets the fact that Michael Chandler let Conor McGregor take over and call the shots for their highly-anticipated UFCV showdown.

Sometimes it’s good to be bad

Speaking on his YouTube channel, DC weighed in on McGregor’s return to face Chandler at 185 and explained why “Iron” shouldn’t have let “Notorious” do what he wants. According to Cormier, McGregor was able to manipulate Chandler to the point where he decided when and at what weight they gonna fight.

“It’s like Dr. Evil from the Austin Powers shows. You remember Dr. Evil would make these little jokes and he would laugh and put his finger in his face? Because he knew he was being bad. That’s what McGregor is doing,” Cormier said. “McGregor is being bad. McGregor is playing the game. McGregor is being the villain right now. Because the villain manipulates. The villain pulls the strings, the villain is the puppet master. The villain makes you move to his music, the villain makes you move to his rhythm.”

“McGregor is being the villain, and you know why? Because Michael Chander is a good guy,” he continued. “Michael Chandler refuses to play the bad guy. Even if at times playing the bad guy would play to his benefit. He should have played the bad guy a little bit in this situation with McGregor and said, ‘F off. I’m done with you. F**k you. You’re taking too long’ …I believe if he would have said ‘to hell with it,’ McGregor would have come back a little sooner.”

“If McGregor is serious and if McGregor insists that this fight takes place at 185, it’s going to take place at 185 because Mike’s not going to tell him no. Mike’s going to go and make more money than he’s ever made on any given night in his entire career but he’s gonna play this guy’s rules,” Cormier concluded. “You got to stand up at times.”

Conor will still generate millions

Cormier then revealed that he was told that McGregor was aiming to fight at UFC 300 but after deliberation, the UFC decided to put him on International Fight Week. For DC, the IFW is still a big event and rest assured “Notorious” will bring in millions of dollars for the company again.

“I know for a fact that his target date was [UFC] 300. He said it publicly. He didn’t get the date that he wanted but obviously International Fight Week is one of the biggest fight cards of the entire year. You could put him at a fight card anywhere though and he would still make for massive numbers that’s how big of a star he is,” Cormier said of McGregor’s return.

Shortly after McGregor announced his return, Chandler replied and verbally agreed to fight at 185. However, nothing is concrete yet as to which weight class it would take place.
