Daniel Cormier And Alexander Gustafsson Trade Barbs On Social Media

Daniel Cormier, UFC light heavyweight champion was recently involved in a heated exchange on social media.

A few days back, the UFC announced champ vs. champ super-fight between UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and UFC light heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic for the title fight at UFC 226 on July 7, at Las Vegas, as well they will also coach the next season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF).

However, Cormier wanted this bout; there were a few who weren’t as thrilled, among them is the light heavyweight contender Alexander Gustafsson, who feels he’s been deprived of the light heavyweight title shot he’s earned.

Just to remind you, the two men already faced each other at UFC 192 back in 2015, where Cormier won the fight via split decision.

Gustafsson has taken to social media to throw shade at Cormier for getting knocked out by former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones last year. While Cormier has mentioned Gustafsson’s recent, heated decision win over Jan Blachowicz as a reason why he doesn’t  deserve the shot just yet.

“DC, u talk about the blachowicz fight?! What about when “someone” predicted the left kick and still u fell for it. . .” Gustafsson tweeted.

To recall you, due to a failed drug test, Jon ‘Bones’ Jones was provisionally suspended by USADA pending a full investigation by the CAC. Jones defeated Cormier via third-round TKO in the main event of UFC 214 on July 29 in Anaheim, California to regain the belt.

Moreover, Gustafsson has won back-to-back fights, since losing to Cormier at UFC 193. He scores win over the likes of Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira the reason many believes he deserves title shot.

No doubt, Daniel Cormier was quick to fire back, offering the Swedish contender a stern warning.

“Damn Alex, like that?” Cormier said in his response. “Too late bud, this the shit you should have been saying before the fight was made. Now chill before I beat ur face in again pretty boy!”

Damn, “U r the one talking fights here! I’m gonna be ur retirement fight not Stipe I’ll wait.. can’t wait to take u down again.. and again..” tweeted Gustafsson.

Daniel Cormier who has already announced that he has 14 months until he hangs up his gloves and ends his pro-MMA career.

Do you want to see a rematch between Cormier and Gustafsson?
