Daniel Cormier Offers Sound Advice To Santos On How To Beat Jon Jones At UFC 239

Daniel Cormier knows a thing or two about his old nemesis Jon Jones and his skills inside the Octagon after getting a beating from ‘Bones’ twice.

Currently, Jon Jones is preparing to defend his light heavyweight title against Brazilian sensation Thiago Santos in the main headliner of UFC 239 on July 6 in Las Vegas. Cormier meanwhile will put his strap on the line against former champ Stipe Miocic at UFC 241 on August 17.

Speaking with MMAJunkie Radio recently, Cormier gives his insight on a showdown between Jones and Thiago. ‘DC’ offered advice to Santos on how to put on your fight and beat arguably the greatest of all time Jones. (h/t MMAFighting)

“I think Santos needs to go in there and fight his fight,” Cormier said. “Don’t think about what he has to do different than everybody else, what he needs to do to be better. Just fight your fight. Don’t worry about all that other stuff. All that other stuff is just white noise. Worry about Thiago Santos and give yourself a chance.”

Betting odds numbers giving Jones a favorite to win the show is opens at a minus-600. While Santos plus 400 underdog which means a $100 bet on him would provide a $500 payout. So Cormier here says Jones isn’t an easy target since he suffered two loses first by the decision and second by head kick KO which later overturned after ‘Bones’ tested positive for a banned substance.

“It’s a tall order for him,” Cormier said. “It’s gonna be a tough fight for him. I saw them standing face to face the other day, and I thought Santos was a little bigger. He’s not as tall as I thought he was and I think he’ll realize early how difficult it is to deal with Jones’s length.”

Jones carries a height advantage over Santos, so Cormier says Santos has to overcome those difficulties to pull a win.

Early predictions who’ll come out on top?
