Dana White says UFC 288 is a massive fight for both Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo’s legacy.

In the main event of the pay-per-view card from Newark, New Jersey, Sterling is looking to defend his bantamweight title for the third time which would set the UFC record. Cejudo, meanwhile, is coming back after a three-year retirement and is looking to reclaim his bantamweight title.

Currently, the oddsmakers have this fight as a pick’em and Dana White says if Sterling can beat Cejudo it would silence a lot of doubters. Of course, many fans have taken shots at Sterling over how he won the belt by DQ and beat an injured TJ Dillashaw, so White thinks a win over Sterling solidifies his legacy.

“It’s huge, it’s huge. Here’s the thing for Aljamain, Aljamain has had some unfortunate situations in his run. But, like we were talking about today, the guy has the most wins, the most consecutive whatever it is,” White said The Schmo. “A win over Henry Cejudo will give this kid the credentials he needs now. This will solidify him and anybody who has had any doubts about him in the past and some of the things that have happened and Cejudo pointed out, beating Henry will squash that. It’s a big fight for both of these guys.”

If Aljamain Sterling can beat Henry Cejudo it would likely be the biggest win of his career and no doubt cement his legacy as Dana White says. But, the fight still needs to happen, and both Cejudo and Sterling are confident they will get their hand raised and finish one another which adds to the excitement of the fight.

Not only would beating Cejudo help cement Sterling’s legacy but it would also set up a big fight against Sean O’Malley next time out.
