UFC boss Dana White and the promotion’s former CEO Lorenzo Fertitta are planning to bring Slap Fighting to Vegas.
Schiaffo LLC, an entity managed by White and Fertitta is scheduled to meet with the NSAC to determine the jurisdiction of such an event. Other names listed as the LLC’s managers include current UFC CEO Lawrence Epstein and Craig Piligian, producer of the UFC’s long-running reality series The Ultimate Fighter.
Per a report from MMA Junkie, the news site obtained an October monthly meeting agenda for the Nevada State Athletic Commission that contained a scheduled discussion on Wednesday to determine if “such contests or exhibitions qualify as unarmed combat … and thus fall under the jurisdiction of the Nevada Athletic commission.”
White recently posted a short video clip on Instagram indicating his involvement in the world of Slap Fighting. However, no official announcement has been made by Dana White or anyone affiliated with the LLC that submitted the filing.
“Submit your entries RIGHT NOW to be part of the BIGGEST SLAP competition ever done! Link in bio,” White posted on Instagram.
Slap Fighting is Exactly What it Sounds Like
Slap Fighting rose to prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic as people in quarantine began searching the bowels of the internet for entertainment. If you are unfamiliar, the rules are pretty simple. Two individuals stand face-to-face and deliver open-hand strikes to one another until one either concedes or loses consciousness. Though the contest is fairly simple, the results are both brutal and hilarious.
Perhaps the most well-known Slap Fighting organization running today is Slap FIGHT Championship, an organization that claims to have been running events since 2017. The promotion is home to some of the top Slap Fighters in the world including Frank The Tank, Wolverine, and Da Crazy Hawaiian.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and WWE Superstar Logan Paul recently appeared together during the debut of Slap Fighting Championship, a new Slap Fighting promotion established in February 2022 which you can watch below.
