  • Dana White said a title fight between Tom Aspinall and the winner of Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic should happen
  • The UFC boss hopes Jones vs. Miocic finally takes place this summer

UFC president Dana White said he would be rooting for a showdown between Tom Aspinall and the winner of Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic.

Tom deserves a shot at the heavyweight GOAT

Speaking on Maxx Crosby’s YouTube channel, White hinted at what could possibly be next after the much-awaited heavyweight title fight between Jones and Miocic. As per the UFC boss, he couldn’t tell which of them would retire after the fight but he is leaning towards booking the winner against Aspinall as “courtesy.”

“This summer, [Jones vs. Miocic] it should happen. It’s interesting. I think it depends on who wins. Either guy that wins, how do you not fight Aspinall,” White pointed out.

“I think there’s almost like a courtesy if you will,” he continued. “If you’re looked at as one of the GOATs, whoever wins this fight, it’s almost like a courtesy thing to give that guy the shot, give him an opportunity to win, or you win and it just absolutely cements.  Nobody can poke holes in it. Nobody can say anything about it.”

Tom is not letting the drama stop him from being the best heavyweight in the world

As much as Aspinall understands Jones’ mindset that puts Miocic over him, he is not letting all that drama stall him from achieving greatness. Aspinall insists that he would prove that he is the best in the world with or without facing “Bones.”

On the other hand, Jones previously said that he is not ruling out a title fight with Aspinall. However, “Bones” pointed out that he and Miocic really need to settle their unfinished business first. In the meantime, Jones wants to Aspinall take on other top guys in the division.

Jones vs. Miocic was scheduled to take place at UFC 295. However, a pectoral injury forced “Bones” to pull out of the card. As it stands, the UFC has yet to plot a specific target date for it.
