- Dana White shared his bold take on the judges’ official scorecards for Aljamain Sterling vs. Petr Yan 2
- The UFC boss talked about what’s next for Sterling
The highly-anticipated rematch between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan was closely watched by the UFC president himself Dana White. For the promotion’s honcho, the judges may have made a wrong call on the bout.
The boss thinks Yan won
According to the Sterling vs. Yan 2 official scorecards, rounds 2 and 3 unanimously belonged to the reigning champ, while the championship rounds 4 and 5 were won by Yan. The only difference was round No. 1 in which two judges gave the nod to “Funk Master,” declaring him winner via split decision.
Speaking to reporters in his UFC 273 post-fight press conference, White shockingly divulged that he scored the fight in favor of Yan and he didn’t know how the judges saw it.
“I thought the judges blew that one,” White said via MMA Junkie. “I had it 3-2 [for Yan]. I don’t know how you guys scored it. It’s all in however you score that first round.”

Sterling vs. Dillashaw pencil-booked
White further admitted that Yan could possibly get another rematch as “No Mercy” is certainly one of the best 135-pounders in the world. Until then, the UFC boss is looking at making the Sterling vs. T.J. Dillashaw fight happen.
“That fight will be there,” the 52-year-old stated. “Petr Yan is one of the baddest dudes in that division, [but] you probably do the T.J. fight.”
The fight between Sterling and Dillashaw has been brewing for quite some time now. In fact, Sterling already fired shots at the former UFC bantamweight champion ahead of their potential title clash in his UFC 273 post-fight presser.
Should the fight comes to fruition, it will be the first time Sterling will defend his belt against a new challenger.
