Dana White Talks Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Dominate UFC 242 Win

Khabib Nurmagomedov added a 28th win to his unbeaten professional career, with his UFC 242 win over Dustin Poirier. UFC President Dana White says this win puts him close to a massive honor.

Khabib proved with his win at UFC 242, that he is one of the most high-level fighters to ever step foot in the Octagon. He overcame some of the worst adversity he had experienced to date, and improved his undefeated record. Therefore, in the aftermath of the fight, there are questions as to his place among the greatest fighters of all time.

Following the event, at the post-fight press conference, Khabib says he deserves to be atop the pound-for-pound rankings. Dana White not only reciprocated some of that emotion, but went a step further. White spoke extremely highly of the champ’s performance.

“He looked unbelievable. Incredibly dominant, even though there was some drama in there when he was caught in that guillotine. A lot of people don’t get out of that thing. Khabib is so good he got out.

Dustin had that thing in deep. Most people would have tapped and went to sleep to that guillotine. Props on him for getting out of that, too. He looked completely dominant tonight.”

Moreover, White gives his thoughts on Khabib’s place among the greats.

“(He’s) pretty special, man. “ think he’s a couple fights away from potential GOAT status. To go undefeated for this long, for this many fights, especially in a division that’s that stacked, he’s looking down the barrel of a pretty special career.”

These are pretty bold statements from Dana White. However, if Khabib wins against potential opponents like Tony Ferguson, and even GSP, he very well could earn that title. At a bare minimum, he would be considered the greatest lightweight of all time.
