Dana White Shut Down The Talks Of Conor Mcgregor Vs. Donald Cerrone Fight

Dana White Says Conor Mcgregor Wants To Fight Khabib Nurmagomedov

A fight between former two-division champion Conor McGregor and Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone has been making rounds and catch fans attentions since Irishman expressed interest in “Cowboy’s” call out.

Cerrone who’s coming off an impressive win over Alexander Hernandez at UFC Brooklyn on Jan. 19, still wants this matchup and even posted a bottle of his brand Budweiser alongside Conor McGregor’s Proper No. Twelve Whiskey with the date July 6 which is International Fight Week on social media.

But UFC head honcho Dana White who recently spoke to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto stating this fight is far from done deal and promotion is moving on from this rumored contest as Mcgregor has some other plans. (h/t BJPenn)

“Yea, so the fight just didn’t happen,” explained White. “You know Conor… What Conor McGregor really wants is to fight Khabib. That’s the fight Conor really wants.”

McGregor last fought in the main header of UFC 229 where he suffered a fourth-round submission loss from the hands of UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov last October in Las Vegas. Shortly after the defeat, Mcgregor asks for an immediate rematch with Khabib. Dana White previously said this fight should happen in 2019. But there is one problem here as Russian plans to sit out by November in solidarity with his teammates until their suspension is up.

White said let Mcgregor figure it out what exactly he wants even though he’s ready for a fight.

“So, let Conor McGregor figure out what’s next. But in the meanwhile, ‘Cowboy’ was just in my office, and you know him. He wants to fight. He’s ready to fight again.”

“We’ll see Conor fight probably in the fall.”

As for who Donald Cerrone fight next, Dana White said we’re planning to book him against Al Iaquinta, who has been calling for a fight against former interim champion Tony Ferguson. So let’s hope Iaquinta agrees to throw down with ‘Cowboy.’

“So we are looking at another opponent (for Cerrone).” Dane White concluded. “We are looking at maybe him and ‘Raging Al.’”
