“You have the best prospect in the bantamweight division in number ten ranked Umar Nurmagomedov taking on number two ranked Cory Sandhagen in what is the number one contender fight at 135 lbs,” White revealed. “In the five-round co-main event, Nick Diaz is returning to the welterweight division to fight number 14 ranked Vicente Luque in what is certain to be an absolute war.”

“No. 4 ranked Chito Vera’s returning after his title fight against [Sean] O’Malley in March to take on former world champion and number six ranked Deiveson Figueiredo. Figueiredo is undefeated since moving up to 135 and is coming off a finish over Cody Garbrandt at UFC 300,” he added.

“No. 7 ranked Mackenzie Dern is facing number ten ranked Loopy Godinez in a fight that features two of the most active strikers in the 115lbs women’s division. And opening the main card is a fight between the legend Tony Ferguson, moving up to 170lbs, in what could be his final fight to take on Michael Chiesa,” he concluded.

Fans have been waiting for Nick and Tony

UFC fans have been waiting for Diaz’s return and an update about Ferguson. Diaz last fought professionally at UFC 266 where he suffered a TKO loss to Robbie Lawler. On the other hand, Ferguson was handed his seventh consecutive defeat after losing to Paddy Pimblett at UFC 296 last year.

The wait is over as Diaz and Ferguson are now set to step inside the Octagon once again. UFC Abu Dhabi will take place on August 3rd at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
