Dan Hooker is playing matchmaker for the middleweight division.
Dan Hooker has been in some exciting fights over the past couple of years. This year alone he made the cut down to featherweight to give his career some new life. Although that did not work out for him resulting in a loss to Arnold Allen in March, Hooker still has a bright future ahead of him. He has a fight booked with Claudio Puelles on November 12 but in the meantime is putting on his matchmaker hat to take a look at the middleweight division.
Dan Hooker thinks Paulo Costa and Robert Whittaker should battle it out for the next title shot
“Yeah, just outclassed him, cleaned his clock, was able to just pick him apart. ” Marvin was just a step behind him the whole fight,” he said. “I had, like two of the judges had it 30-27 I thought it was pretty clear, just because of the way the division has been like, Israel has beat both of these boys twice, it’s just the way the division works. So I think a fight between Paulo Costa and Robert Whittaker works very well. And you know, that without a doubt, puts the winner of that back in for a title shot. I think that’s the best way Izzy will fight Peieria and then wait around for Paulo Costa to fight Robert Whittaker and then the winner of that jumps back into the title shot.”
Both Costa and Whittaker are close to receiving title shots. They will have to see how the bout between Adesanya and Pereira plays out but fighting each other is a good way to solidify their spot in the line.
