Cub Swanson Fought Wisely, Didn’t Let Kron Gracie Take Him Down, And Won Via Unanimous Decision!
UFC On ESPN+ 19 is going down live now (Saturday, October 12, 2019) from inside Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
The co-main event of the evening brings the 145-pound bout between two BJJ black belts – submission expert Kron Gracie and UFC vet Cub Swanson.
Our ref in charge of this contest is Kevin MacDonald. The match kicks off!
Round 1
No glove touch. Cub Swanson moves around and changes stances. Kron goes forward, eats an uppercut. Big punch Swanson. Right-hand counter Swanson, Gracie stops.
Low kick Cub, Gracie ate it. Swanson moves like a cat. Good jabs on both sides. Sidekick to the leg Gracie missed.
Three big strikes by Kron. Swanson lands a big right. 1-2 Cub. This middle kick landed by Swanson!!! Low kick to the thigh Cub. And another one. Big right straight by Swanson, Gracie is staggered but he goes forward.
Another big punch by Swanson, Gracie eats big shots. Good punches by Kron. Right hand Kron, fighters trade shots, Swanson escapes again. Both noses are bleeding, great trade! Big punch to the body Cub. Middle kick Swanson. 10-9 Cub.
Round 2
Cub keeps his hands down and ducks under Kron’s punches. Big right straight Cub. Low kick Cub. And another right-hand land. Gracie is too slow. Another right-hand finds its mark!
Kron tries to clinch up, eats body shots. Three right punches by Kron, he clinches up, but Cub escapes and punishes him with counter shots. Gracie pulls guard, Cub shows him to get up. Strong left hand Swanson.
Liver shot Cub, Gracie survives. Gracie pulled guard once again, Cub survives and gets up. Clinch. They separate, right hand Cub. Clinch strikes Kron. Three hooks by Swanson.
Wow, big left uppercut by Kron! Fighters missing on both sides. Clinch punches and elbows Swanson, low kick. Right jab Kron. Swanson is cut open above his right eye. Two jabs Kron. I think 10-9 Cub.
Round 3
Three quick punches by Gracie, but he eats left hook. Right hand Cub. Swanson ducks under and punishes Gracie with a counter. Clinch. Body kick Cub left uppercut. Gracie pulls guard and lands an up-kick. Clinch.
Right uppercut Swanson. Judo throw Gracie, but Swanson gets up. Right straight to the face Cub. Another punch trade in the clinch, Gracie pulls guard again, no success.
Big right by Cub, followed by 1-2. Wild punch exchange on both sides. 1-2 Kron, Swanson is bleeding heavily. Right uppercut Cub. A lot of strikes by Cub, Gracie shoots in, Cub ends up on top, in the full guard.
Swanson got up. Kick to the legs Swanson, another punch to the body. I am unsure about this round.
Final Result: Cub Swanson decisions Kron Gracie (30-27, x 3)
