UFC veteran Cub Swanson took on Jonathan Martinez, who went into the bout on a three-fight win streak, in his bantamweight debut at UFC Vegas 62.

Round 1

Swanson opens with a leg kick. Martinez slips and gets up quickly to grapple with Swanson against the fence. Swanson trying to land combinations maintaining his aggression. Swanson gets a takedown. Martinez reverses well and has Swanson’s neck. Cub gets up. Huge overhand by Swanson grazes Martinez. Martinez fires a kick to the head. Nice check kick by Martinez. Swanson goes to the body. Nice straight hook punch combination by Martinez. Martinez connects with a brutal knee that sends Swanson down. Martinez tries to capitalize with multiple strikes but Swanson manages to survive the round.

Round 2

Martinez trying to land a head kick. Martinez with vicious elbow combinations to break Swanson’s guard. Cub goes to the ground and Martinez is laying the ground and pound. Martinez trying an arm triangle here. He takes top position in half guard. Cub is struggling to get up but manages to get to his knees. Cub is up and they return to the middle. Swanson with a nice right hook. Swanson is letting his hands go now. Huge left hook from Swanson. Heavy leg kicks from Martinez send Cub down each time. Big counter left uppercut from Martinez wobbles Cub. Martinez is making good use of his left high kick. Inside low kick by Martinez sends Cub down unable to recover.
