When it comes to his rumored return to the Octagon this summer, Conor McGregor says that it’s “all systems go.”

On New Year’s Eve, the Irish megastar declared that he would compete on June 29 as part of the promotion’s annual International Fight Week in Las Vegas. Thus far, we’ve seen no official announcement, but during an interview with ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, McGregor revealed that his quote-unquote “greatest comeback in combat sports history” is infact locked in for later this year.

“We got confirmation a few days ago that it’s all systems go,” McGregor said. “‘The Mac,’ ‘The Notorious’ will be returning to the UFC Octagon this summer.”

During an appearance at the premiere of his upcoming feature film, Road House, McGregor vented frustration over his delayed return, noting that he was beginning to lose motivation after kickstarting multiple training camps only to discover that it was all for naught.

“I had [my training] camp in Dubai [months ago], I had a camp in Cannes,” McGregor said. “I was preparing, and then I was kind of getting nothing back. And then other things came up and I kind of dipped out. But now, it’s on. So, there’s no messing now. I cannot dip out now.”

Conor McGregor Responds to Michael Chandler’s Call Out on WWE Raw

Conor McGregor also had a message for his opponent, former Bellator MMA champion Michael Chandler. Last month, ‘Iron’ appeared on WWE Raw and cut a pro-wrestling-style promo on the Irishman that quickly went viral.

“Shut up, Michael, you f*cking imbecile,” McGregor said. “The man doesn’t shut up. I seen him on ‘Raw.’ I like Mike — I’m going to bust him up. I’m going to bust Mike up, yeah? If I say it, I do it. … If I say it, it gets done. Put that on my stone.”

Chandler has been McGregor’s designated opponent since early last year when the UFC first announced that the pair would compete against one another on the 31st season of The Ultimate Fighter. A full year later, it appears that we finally have an idea of when they’ll throw hands inside the cage.
