Conor McGregor gave his honest thoughts to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s top-15 MMA GOAT list.
On Wednesday, Nurmagomedov took to Twitter out of the blue to share his list of the MMA GOATs which caught many by surprise. The former UFC lightweight champion had Fedor Emelianenko and Jon Jones tied atop his list while Georges St-Pierre, Anderson Silva, Demetrious Johnson, and Daniel Cormier rounded out his top-five. Yet, many fans pointed to the fact McGregor was not on his list, but the lightweight champ also didn’t include himself.
McGregor’s Response
After Nurmagomedov sent out the tweet, Conor McGregor took to social media to respond to the former champ’s list. To some surprise, he didn’t rip on Nurmagomedov, instead, he just pointed out that he is still fighting and still near the top while many on that list aren’t.
“In the end, it’s who’s left, don’t forget. God bless Tidl Sport Science @tidlsport @Target,” McGregor tweeted in a deleted tweet.
It shouldn’t be a surprise to see Nurmagomedov not include McGregor on his list as the two are longtime rivals and have been vocal about their dislike of each other. Of course, the two did fight at UFC 229 with Nurmagomedov scoring a fourth-round submission win to defend his lightweight title for the first time.
Although Conor McGregor is not on Khabib Nurmagomedov’s GOAT list, perhaps if the Irishman can win a UFC title again perhaps that will sway his rival’s thoughts. But, given what the two said about each other, it seems unlikely that no matter what McGregor does, he won’t be getting any praise from Nurmagomedov.
Currently, McGregor is still rehabbing and getting ready to fight after he broke his leg in July of 2021. It’s likely he will face Michael Chandler next time out as the two did coach TUF 31 against one another. Perhaps if McGregor wins, he would get a title shot and get a chance to become a UFC champ again.
