  • Mateusz Gamrot’s recent win saw him replacing Conor McGregor in the top 10
  • The lightweight contender has his sights on the biggest draws in his division

Mateusz Gamrot did not let the opportunity slip away in his main event bout against Arman Tsarukyan at UFC Vegas 57. “Gamer” gave everything he got for five full rounds and walked away with a unanimous decision win over Tsarukyan. He has now broken into the UFC lightweight’s top 10, booting Conor McGregor out.

A big break

In the recently-updated UFC rankings, Gamrot jumped four places and is now the No. 8 eight 155-pounder in the world. McGregor, on the other hand, who hasn’t secured a win since 2020, dropped to the No. 12 spot.

Gamrot’s win over Tsarukyan has been the biggest break of his career as he now increases his chances of getting slated for a showdown against one the top guys in the lightweight division.

Strike while the iron is hot

As expected, Gamrot did not shy away from calling out who he wants next. According to 31-year-old, he could already imaging how things will play out and but he wants to take on Justin Gathje first before Islam Makhachev.

“I keep finger crossed for Islam,” Gamrot said post-fight. “I think Islam beat Charles Oliveira next fight, and I want next fight with Justin and then next fight (after that) with Islam. Simple plan.”

Gamrot is now on a four-fight win streak but with most of the top guys in the lightweight division already booked, he might have to wait for a while.
