A lightweight headliner between Arman Tsarukyan and Mateusz Gamrot is taking place now (Saturday, June 25, 2022) at UFC Vegas 57.
Round 1
Gamrot blocks a head kick. Tsarukyan shoots but Gamrot defends. Now, Gamrot with a single leg but Tsarukyan shows great balance to stay up and separate. Gamrot tries to get another takedown but gives up on it. Tsarukyan with some nice combinations. Gamrot with a leg kick but gets taken down by Tsarukyan who times it well. Gamrot scrambles and ends up taking Tsarukyan’s back as they clinch up. They eventually separate. Tsarukyan with a body kick and nearly lands a flush head kick soon after. Tsarukyan with some leg kicks. Gamrot catches one and tries to get him down but Tsarukyan again shows great balance to stay up. Gamrot attempts another takedown which results in another scramble to end the round.
Round 2
Gamrot is swinging wild. Tsarukyan continues with his kicking game. Tsarukyan lands some big body kicks. Tsarukyan shoots but Gamrot defends well. Gamrot with a leg kick. Tsarukyan shoots again, but Gamrot defends well as they scramble. They get to their feet and clinch up before separating. Gamrot starts attacking the body. Tsarukyan with another big body kick. Gamrot lands a couple of rights and ends the round with a body kick.
Round 3
Tsarukyan opens the round with two body kicks. They clinch up momentarily. Tsarukyan lands a big right and defends a takedown soon after. Gamrot takes Tsarukyan down but only momentarily. Gamrot still has his back and controls him for a minute. Tsarukyan separates. He shoots for the single leg but Gamrot defends. Gamrot eats a spinning back kick! Tsarukyan ends the round strong with a couple of body kicks.
Round 4
Both fighters are swinging early. Gamrot goes for the clinch. Gamrot partially eats a head kick. Gamrot connects with a big punch but has to eat a body kick soon after. Tsarukyan with a body kick and follows it with a spinning backfist that sits Gamrot down. However, Gamrot scrambles and has Tsarukyan’s back. Tsarukyan escapes but is slowing down a bit. Gamrot takes Tsarukyan down. He manages to get a hook in and threaten with a rear naked. Tsarukyan gets out of it as the round ends.
Round 5
Gamrot lands a right. Tsarukyan drops Gamrot with a leg kick. Tsarukyan connects with another. Tsarukyan sees his takedown attempt defended. Both fighters connect in the pocket. Gamrot with a clean takedown. Tsarukyan eventually gets out and they return to striking. Gamrot looks for another takedown after Tsarukyan misses a spinning backfist but is unable to secure it. Tsarukyan returns to his body kicks. Tsarukyan sprawls as Gamrot fails with a takedown attempt. Tsarukyan is mixing things up. Gamrot shoots but is unable to keep Tsarukyan down as the fight ends.
Official Result: Mateusz Gamrot defeats Arman Tsarukyan via unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 48-47).
